Terms of the Competition


ENTRY FEE

The entry fee is $375 per team. This includes two rounds with golf, cart, access to the club's range, dinner, lunch, an exclusive tee gift, and awards.

 

ELIGIBILITY

The Championship is teams consisting of two male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:
1. Membership: Players must be members of the NYSGA, defined as (1) belonging to an NYSGA member club or (2) as an NYSGA eClub member (NYS residency required).

2. Age: The following age requirements are set for each division:

  • Amateur: There are no age restrictions to compete in this division.
  • Senior Amateur: Players must be at least 55 years old as of September 21, 2020

3. USGA Handicap Index: Players must have an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index of 12.0 or less issued through their NYSGA member club.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

Entries: All teams must register online prior to the established deadline (see below). Entries by mail or fax will not be accepted.
Fee: $375 per team, which includes golf, cart, range, meals, prizes, and an exclusive tournament player gift.

Field Size: The field is limited to 26 teams in both the Amateur and Senior Amateur Divisions (104 players). See below for a complete description of the field size and wait list procedures.

Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (5PM EST on Wednesday, September 2, 2020). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified (315-471-6979 or via email at deb@nysga.org): Prior to Deadline: Entry fee less $20. After the Deadline: Entry fee less $50.

 

FIELD SIZE AND WAIT LIST

The field will consist of 26 teams in both divisions (104 players total). If more than 26 teams register for either division, the division will consist of the 26 teams with the lowest combined Handicap Index as of the September 2nd revision. The remaining teams will be placed on the waitlist, ordered by their combined Handicap Index. Any team that is placed on the waitlist will be issued a full refund and will not be charged until they regain a position in the field.

 

Note: A player may be subject to Handicap reduction if he does not have at least five scores posted in the previous 3 posting months. The NYSGA reserves the right to amend the field/waitlist.

 

FORMAT, DIVISIONS, & TIES

Format: This Championship will be conducted over 36 holes of four-ball stroke play.

Divisions: There are two divisions in this Championship: the 10th NYS Men's Amateur Four-Ball Championship (all ages) and the 9th NYS Men's Senior Amateur Championship (ages 55+).

Ties: The team in each Championship with the lowest score for 36 holes will be the champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play.

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The NYSGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

CADDIES

A player may praovide his own caddie.

 

GOLF CARTS

The use of a motorized golf cart is approved, payment for which is included in the entry fee.

 

SPECTATORS

Spectators are always welcome at NYSGA championships. As a guest of the NYSGA and the host club, spectators are expected to dress in golf appropriate clothing and quietly follow players. Cell phones must be either turned off or set to silent. Follow your players from a distance (at least 20 yards) and stay in the rough or on the cart paths. Do not lag behind the players as this often delays players in the group behind. Spectator carts are not permitted, exceptions are only allowed if the Handicap Cart Request form (see below) is submitted seven days prior to the start of the competition.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

Players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal appearance.

 

PLAYER MEMO FOR CHAMPIONSHIP

The pertinent information for this championship will be provided once the field is finalized at the close of entries. Hotel information will be sent to teams who will comfortably make the cut based on their combined USGA Handicap Index.

 

CONDITIONS; TERMS; SCHEDULES

The NYSGA reserves the right to amend any of the conditions, terms, or schedules published for this Championship. The decision of the NYSGA in any matter will be final.
